About CogniSource
What is the Pressure Index?
A live 0–100 score that summarises your current workload pressure across six risk dimensions. It updates in real time as your tasks, meetings, and interruptions change. As history builds, CogniSource can compare today’s pressure with your usual workload pattern.
What are Key Risk Indicators?
Six signals computed from your workspace data, each grounded in peer-reviewed research: SPOF Risk (solo-owned work with no backup), Capacity Overrun (execution burden against sustainable capacity), Dependency Debt (blocked work aging without resolution), Context Switching (attention fragmentation from project spread and interruptions), Burnout Velocity (sustained overload without recovery), Recovery Buffer (forward room to absorb unplanned work). See the Research page for all 40 citations.
What makes CogniSource different from other productivity and task management tools?
CogniSource connects operational evidence across tasks, projects, notes, meetings, interruptions, people and companies, then turns it into a measurable picture of your workload.
How is this different from a mood tracker?
CogniSource does not ask you to rate how you feel. It computes pressure from the structure of your work. Self-reported stress can be influenced by sleep, health, and many factors beyond workload; tasks, deadlines, meetings, interruptions, and dependencies provide direct evidence of the work itself.
Your data and privacy
Where is my data stored?
Your full workspace is stored in your browser rather than hosted as a workspace database on CogniSource servers. When you deliberately use an AI feature, only the relevant context for that action is sent for processing.
Does my employer or manager see this?
CogniSource does not provide a manager dashboard, organisation view or team rollup. You choose whether to share an exported report.
What are private items?
Private items are hidden behind a local PIN privacy lock and removed from the normal view. They are excluded from broad AI context. If you deliberately run an AI action on a private task or note, CogniSource asks for a separate confirmation before sending that item. Useful for sensitive work you want to track without it appearing in your regular workspace.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Your workspace is stored in your browser. An expired license does not itself delete those records, but it can prevent you from opening the workspace. Keep a JSON backup because clearing or losing browser storage can remove your local data. Subscription cancellation and access terms are still being decided for public launch.
How do I back up my workspace and use it on another device?
Your workspace lives in your browser. In Settings → Sync, Chrome and Edge can save backups to a chosen folder after you enable Auto-save and grant folder access. Saving can pause if folder access is lost or a newer backup needs your attention. Safari and Firefox use manual JSON backups: open Settings → Backup to download a backup or restore an existing file. If your chosen folder is already synced by OneDrive, Google Drive, or Dropbox, that service handles the cloud copy.
To move your workspace to another browser or device: download a full JSON backup, then open Settings → Backup → Restore on the new device. Review the backup before confirming. Restore replaces the workspace in that browser with the contents of the backup file.
Important: this is not multi-device sync. Before changing devices, save or download the latest backup from the device you just used, then restore that complete backup on the next device.
Import (.csv, .xlsx, .xls, .md, .pdf, .txt) is for bringing in content from other tools, not for restoring a CogniSource workspace.

Features
What is the Command Palette?
Press ⌘ Cmd+K on Mac or Ctrl+K on Windows/Linux from anywhere in the app to search across tasks, notes, projects, people, and companies. Use the up and down arrows to move through results, Tab to cycle between them, and Enter to open what you land on. Type @ to scope search to people and companies only. To create something instead of searching, use Quick Capture: press Q when you are not typing, then a single key for each create action: T task, I interruption, N note, P project, M meeting.
What are @mentions?
Type @ anywhere in a task title, description, or note to link a person or company. The mention creates a live connection: every place a person is referenced automatically appears on their record. Referenced items can be conveniently filtered by notes, tasks, projects, interruptions, and meetings.
Can I import my calendar?
Yes. CogniSource connects to your Microsoft 365 Outlook calendar and imports accepted invitations and meetings where Outlook records your response as organizer. Cancelled, all-day, private, out-of-office and personal placeholder entries are excluded, along with entries titled “Focus time”, as are invitations you have not accepted. Accepted meetings can still be imported when Outlook marks them as free. Some work tenants may require admin approval before calendar sync can be used.
Can I import existing tasks and data?
Yes. Import tasks from CSV or Excel (.xlsx, .xls). Import notes from plain text (.txt), Markdown (.md), or PDF files, or paste text directly. A full workspace backup can be restored from a JSON file on any device or browser.
AI features
What AI features are included?
AI is available in Related Items, Extract Tasks from Note, SOW Intelligence, Manager Update and 1:1 Prep.
Manager Update provides an editable executive summary, fuller update or email from recorded work evidence, with an optional evidence appendix and print/HTML export.
1:1 Prep combines your selected topics and optional details with recorded work evidence.
In these two communication tools, AI orders sections; the app supplies their factual text.
Do I need an API key?
No. AI is included in CogniSource. You do not need to bring or manage your own external API key. The core workspace, KRIs, Pressure Index, backup, calendar sync, and reviews also work without using AI.
What does the AI use my data for?
AI features process only the relevant content for the action you start, for example the workload evidence you ask to summarise or the note you ask to extract from. Your full workspace is not uploaded by default. Private records stay out of broad AI context; sending a private task or note requires both unlocking it and confirming that specific AI action.
Getting started
How long does setup take?
The onboarding wizard takes approximately two minutes. Add your active tasks with statuses and deadlines and the Pressure Index begins reading your workload immediately.
When will I see my first Pressure Index score?
Immediately. Your first Pressure Index uses the work evidence currently available in your workspace, so a genuinely calm workload can show a genuinely low score. Add task details, meetings, and interruptions as they happen to strengthen the picture. Personal baseline adjustment begins after 14 prior daily snapshots.
What is on the Today page?
The Today page opens with a one-sentence verdict about your current pressure, followed by the Pressure Index score with an 8-week sparkline. Below that: a Daily Activity button that opens today's recorded work summary, Today’s Focus (an uncapped list of due-today work, active reminders, remaining meetings, and recently overdue commitments), a Yesterday card showing what was completed, stalled, and carried over, Last Week Recap, and Next Week Preview. The KRI breakdown follows below all of that. You can show or hide sections using the Today layout settings.
What is Daily Activity?
Daily Activity brings together today's recorded task changes, note activity, interruptions and meetings. Open it from the Today page to review these categories. It is a summary of recorded work, rather than a complete log of every click or edit.
Which browsers does it work in?
CogniSource is currently designed and tested as a desktop workspace in Chrome, Edge, and Firefox. The public site works on mobile, but a phone is not the intended primary workspace. Chrome and Edge support automatic backup folder saving; Firefox supports manual backup file download and restore. Safari does not currently support automatic saving to a chosen backup folder. Use manual JSON backup files in Safari.
